The Best Employers for Race

66 public and private sector organisations have been named in the first ever Best Employers for Race listing, published by Business in the Community. The listing is unranked with organisations listed in alphabetical order.

The Best Employers for Race was launched as a recommendation made in the McGregor-Smith Review of race in the workplace earlier this year to identify the UK’s best employers in terms of diversity and showcase best practice on race equality in UK workplaces. Employers in the listing have demonstrated how they are putting leadership on race into place within their organisations, and collectively represent the best employers for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people in the UK. Successful organisations had to show that they are driving change at an organisational level and creating inclusive workplace cultures. They did so by providing evidence of actions they have taken in at least one of three areas - leadership, progression and recruitment – and the impact this has had on their BAME employees.

The organisations gaining a place on the Best Employers for Race list were eligible to be considered for a Business in the Community Race Equality Award.  The case studies from the winning entries,  Enterprise-Rent-A-Car, KPMG and EY along with the finalists can be viewed at Race Equality Awards 2017.
