Race at Work Charter 2019 – One Year On

This event marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of the Race at Work Charter. 

The Race at Work Charter was established in 2018 by Business in the Community (BITC) in partnership with the government to improve outcomes for black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) employees in the UK. It consists of five principles to ensure organisations address the barriers to BAME recruitment and progression. 
 
The charter signatories, which include public, private and charitable organisations, have already increased from 85 in 2018 to more than 160 signatories at present.   
 
About the event
Attendees will hear about the Race at Work Charter survey employer trends for 2019. There will be opportunity to talk to charter signatories and senior leaders from BITC partner organisations about the challenges BAME employees still face, and how employers are taking action to create inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive.   
 
Speakers will include: 
  • Baroness Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE, author of the Race in the workplace: The McGregor-Smith Review 
  • Sandra Kerr CBE, Race Equality Director, BITC
  • Drake Dubin, Chief Operating Officer, BITC
  • Additional speakers to be announced.
