There are over 20.6 million women in the UK's working age population of which 2.9 million (14%) are from a Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) background. There is, however, a significant difference in the employment rates between white women (72.6%) and BAME women (55.8%).
This fact sheet examines the statistics surrounding BAME women in work and offers guidance to business on how the inequalities can be addressed.
Data from the Race at Work survey undertaken in 2015 that received over 24,000 participants is included. The survey sought to identify what women find most helpful when looking for employment, how women apply for jobs, and how they would search for their next job.
