Thomas Colquhoun- Alberts 
Knowledge Manager

Thomas is an experienced researcher and published author. With particular interests in culture and social relations, his research experience has applied critical social theory to social justice challenges. His published writings include human rights themes, democracy, and religion in public life.

Thomas holds a PhD from SOAS, University of London. He was formerly a research associate at the Institute for Comparative Religions in Southern Africa at the University of Cape Town and at the Human Sciences Research Council (South Africa)

Thomas is an innovative and analytical researcher, with a particular interest in culture and social relations. Thomas enjoys on- going planning,  working as part of a team, data interpretation and capturing knowledge.

Don Cowper
Business Development Manager 

Don has worked for Business in the Community for 19 years. He joined the organisation with over 20 years experience in finance.

Don specialises in facilitating networking opportunities between diversity experts and organisations ensuring the sharing of best practice and knowledge. Don is based in the North East and was  awarded a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship in 2000 linking schools in the North East of England with schools in South Africa, Namibia and Lesotho and helping to build 7 libraries in townships.

From 1997 to May 2007 Don was the National Treasurer of the anti-racist Charity Show Racism the Red Card.  In the past 10 years, he has worked tirelessly to raise the awareness of the charity, undertaking many physically demanding challenges including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro twice, white water rafting on the Zambezi and trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp six times.

Youcef Hassaine
Diversity Adviser

Youcef is a highly experienced HR professional with several years of working with employees, ranging from senior executives to junior grades. Youcef is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personal Development with expertise in employee relations, employment law and performance improvement. Prior to Business in the Community, Youcef worked for PwC as a HR Advisor, where his responsibilities included delivering people manager coaching sessions on diversity, delivering difficult messages, performance improvement and health and well-being. Other responsibilities included project managing the salary review and moderation process, as well as facilitating focus groups with the aim of improving employee engagement at PwC. 

Youcef recently completed the London Marathon, raising funds for a testicular cancer charity. Youcef’s other personal interests include playing cricket, cycling and travelling to watch the England cricket team overseas.

Youcef Hassaine
 

Mohamed is a highly experienced consultant and trainer with expertise in all areas of equality legislation and their impact on individuals and organisations. Prior to Business in the Community, Mohamed worked for the Business Disability Forum, and as an Employment and Discrimination caseworker for the Disability Law Service (DLS). At DLS, Mohamed represented clients citing discrimination against both employers and service providers. He also provided training on the Equality Act 2010 and its impact on employers and service providers.  Mohamed has also worked for Watford Racial Equality Council as a Director before moving to Croydon Law Centre to develop his career in employment and discrimination law. 

Mohamed is a regular speaker at events and conferences and specialises in providing ‘Lunch and learn’ training around Mental health and its impact at work.

Mohamed's personal interests include supporting Lyndhurst primary school as a Parent Governor.
