Why am I so excited about the Best 100 Employers for Race listing?

Sandra Kerr OBE, Business in the Community Race Equality Director, speaks of her excitement around launch of the Best 100 Employers for Race Listing 2017.

I am delighted to launch the Best 100 Employers for Race in the UK exactly two weeks after the launch of the McGregor-Smith Review into Race in the Workplace.

One of the 26 recommendations was that Business in the Community should introduce a listing of the top 100 employers for Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people in the UK.

There is a simple three step process to enter and any obstacles that could prevent participation have been removed.

Key points:

  • Firstly it is free to enter.  There are no hidden financial costs. It is free to all employers of all sectors, sizes and shapes.

  • Secondly it is short.  With 31 questions, some quotes and a case study we have ensured that entering the Best 100 Employers for Race listing is not resource intensive.  The actual input online will take no more than 30 minutes once you’ve done the preparatory work.

  • Thirdly we need employers from all industries, large and small and sectors to enter.  We need employers who are taking action on race in the workplace to step up and get involved and be role models and examples of good practice for other employers in their sector.

So with a potential £24bn1 boost to the UK economy if employers get race equality in the workplace right, I am looking forward to celebrating those organisations who are leading the way on action.

So with all of this good news about the free and simple entry process please find out more and start to prepare your submission.

If you haven’t read the government review on Race in the Workplace report it is available on the Government's online portal
